COPD - Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

COPD: Journal of Chronic Obsctructive Pulmonary Disease

Welcome to COPD: Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

This is the first journal dedicated to publishing a range of research on the impact of COPD. First published in 2004, we are now launching an exciting new media-rich digital format to accompany our standard electronic and print issues. This digital format will be free to all qualifying subscribers.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is one of the world's largest health care concerns and its threat continues to worsen each year. The COPD patient population across the seven major markets is expected to rise from an estimated 28.1 million in 2005 to 32 million in 2015, representing an astounding 14% increase. Indeed, in a report released in December 2010, the CDC listed COPD is listed as the third leading cause of death in the US.

Informa Healthcare recognizes the need to distribute the valuable content in COPD to the widest possible audience to influence patient care and encourage new research in developing therapeutics and devices. To assist us in this endeavor, we have partnered with the COPD Foundation. As the Official Journal of the COPD Foundation, we will aid them in their mission to develop and support programs that improve quality of life for people whose lives are impacted by COPD.

We are proud and excited to unveil our new media-rich digital format - designed to complement our existing issues - which will offer users swift and easy access to the latest research and developments on COPD, delivered right to users' desks or mobile devices. The new media-rich digital format includes live web links, instant-loading video, high resolution images and crisp text, as well as multiple views and zoom features for easy reading. Readers can also add bookmarks and notes to articles, search by keyword, and forward articles of interest easily and swiftly to colleagues.

Editor-in-Chief James D. Crapo ensures that each issue contains the highest quality peer reviewed information available to keep you at the cutting edge of the industry. From original research and review articles to meeting reports and the COPD Pipeline, you will stay up to date with COPD trends and be able to provide your patients with the best possible care.

If you have not already subscribed to the digital version of COPD, I would encourage you to do so, to guarantee the journal is delivered to your inbox as soon as each issue is published. You can subscribe online here. We are excited to work with you and look forward to your contributions and feedback.
